Counting Backwards was the name of a fanzine friends and I published a decade or so ago. The title came from the final line of an obscure, anti-Sesame Street rant we found in another 'zine. It read: "This show fucks kids up by counting backwards." (Counting Backwards was also the name of a Throwing Muses song, though that didn't occur to us 'til afterwards.)These days, I write about books, plays, movies, and music, for various magazines and newspapers. I used to help edit a late, lamented webzine. Today, I'm working on a history of rock and roll. (It's a humbling experience.) I'm 31, I'm short for my age, and I live in Long Island City. I'll try to update this site on a regular basis, leaning less towards the personal, more towards the kind of stuff you might actually be interested in. 'Til then, thanks for stopping by.
